Our Programs

New American Resource Center have in place a wide range of programs and initiatives to support and empower new Americans. These programs aim to address various aspects of their integration and well-being, providing a holistic approach to their needs. From after-school programs and English language support to violence prevention, job readiness, and mental wellness, these initiatives foster a safe, inclusive, and thriving environment for new Americans. By focusing on education, cultural exchange, community building, and health promotion. These programs strive to ensure that new Americans have the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed, contribute, and feel welcomed in their new home.

 

After-School Programs and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages):

The After-School Programs and ESOL program aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for children of new American families in Central Ohio. The program focuses on providing academic support, language skills, and cultural exchange opportunities. ESOL classes are designed to help non-native English speakers improve their language skills, which will help them integrate into the community and succeed academically.

Integration, Assimilation, and Acculturation:

This program aims to help new Americans in Central Ohio successfully integrate and assimilate into American society. The program provides information and resources to help newcomers understand the American culture, customs, and norms. The program also helps newcomers navigate the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, including language barriers and cultural differences.

Gun Violence Prevention and Violence Elimination

The Gun Violence Prevention and Violence Elimination program aims to reduce violence and create safe communities for new Americans in Central Ohio. The program provides education and resources to help community members recognize and prevent violence, including gun violence. The program also works with law enforcement agencies and community partners to promote violence prevention and eliminate the root causes of violence.

Forging Positive Relationships

The Forging Positive Relationships program aims to promote healthy relationships and social connections among new Americans in Central Ohio. The program provides opportunities for community members to come together, share their experiences, and build friendships. The program also promotes respect and understanding among different cultures, which helps to reduce social isolation and promote mental wellness.

Youth Leadership Skills and Sports Activities

The Youth Leadership Skills and Sports Activities program aims to provide new American youth with leadership skills, sports activities, and character-building opportunities. The program helps young people develop leadership skills and self-confidence, while also providing opportunities for physical activity and social interaction.

Strengthening Academic Skills:

The Strengthening Academic Skills program aims to provide academic support to new American students in Central Ohio. The program provides tutoring and homework help, as well as resources to help students succeed academically. The program also provides support to parents and caregivers, helping them to better understand the American educational system and how to support their children’s academic success.

Soft and Technical Skills

The Soft and Technical Skills program aims to provide job readiness training to new Americans in Central Ohio. The program provides training in both soft skills, such as communication and teamwork, as well as technical skills, such as computer literacy and job-specific skills. The program helps community members to build the skills they need to succeed in the workforce and contribute to the local economy.

Cultivating Trustworthy Relationships

The Cultivating Trustworthy Relationships program aims to build trust and understanding between new Americans and the broader community in Central Ohio. The program provides opportunities for community members to engage in dialogue and build relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. The program also helps to dispel myths and stereotypes about new Americans, promoting acceptance and inclusion.

Resume Building and Coaching Sessions

The Resume Building and Coaching Sessions program aims to help new Americans in Central Ohio prepare for and find employment. The program provides support with resume building and job searching, as well as coaching sessions to help community members navigate the job application and interview process. The program helps new Americans to build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce.

Educating and Empowering Work-Ready Individuals

The Educating and Empowering Work-Ready Individuals program aims to provide job training and placement services to new Americans in Central Ohio. The program provides education and training in a variety of fields, helping community members to build the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. The program also provides job placement services, helping community members to find employment that matches their skills and interests.

Improving Work Culture and Cultural Competency

The Improving Work Culture and Cultural Competency program aims to promote a welcoming and inclusive work environment for new Americans in Central Ohio. Running Preventative Mental Wellness Classes and Workshops
